The triskele, three interlocking spirals, is a Celtic symbol taken to denote earth, sea and sky, or the interlocking, never-ending spiral of life. Ancient triskele spirals can be found at various Neolithic and Megalithinc sites, most notably at Newgrange, Ireland. This mitten, knit with two different coloured strands of yarn, is super-warm and cosy.
Difficulty rating: low to medium; it is a pretty quick and easy knit.
Size: Medium Adult; note: the mitten width can be increased if necessary, instructions are included.
Tension: approximately 28 stitches per 10cm, using 3mm needles.
Materials: two differently coloured yarns, approximately 50g of each colour, 100g in total, to make both mittens. The mittens pictured were knit with Violet Green LCA, a heavy 4ply/ light DK weight yarn. Any slightly thicker 4ply weight yarn/light DK yarn would be suitable.
Uses 3mm double pointed knitting needles.
This pattern includes written instructions plus a full colour chart for each mitten.
